Custom Outdoor Designs is a design and build studio for backyards in the Greater Phoenix metro area. We take a bare yard — or one that never quite worked — and turn it into a finished outdoor space: pool, patio, shade, outdoor kitchen, planting and lighting, drawn on a single plan and built by our own crews. From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, you deal with the people doing the work.
What we do
One plan for the whole yard, not a stack of separate projects.
Most backyards are built in pieces. A pool company digs the pool, a landscaper adds planting, someone else pours the patio, and the finished yard feels like three projects sharing a fence line. We work the other way around. One designer resolves the entire space on paper first — where the water sits, how the patio drains away from the house, where the shade falls at four in the afternoon, how the planting will look once it has grown in — and then prices it as one scope.
From there our crews build it: hardscapes in natural stone and pavers, custom pools and spas, cedar and steel pergolas and ramadas, built-in grills and stone islands, then layered softscape, turf and low-voltage lighting to finish it. Because everything is designed together, the yard holds up as one space instead of drifting apart a season at a time.

There is no sales team and no chain of subcontractors between you and the finished space. Custom Outdoor Designs is a small studio: the designer who walks your yard leads the plan, and the crew that sets the stone is the same crew that handles the utilities, the water and the planting.
